Brentwood

Brentwood Homes for Sale

With mountains on three sides, Los Angeles County sits in an enormous coastal basin and encompasses the world-famous city by the same name, Los Angeles, California, which serves as the county seat. Los Angeles is the state’s most populous city and the nation’s second-largest city. Among other reasons, the City of Angels is best known for its gorgeous Mediterranean climate, stunning natural beauty, sprawling metro area, and extraordinary ethnic diversity. Within L.A. there are numerous large communities, like the San Fernando Valley, Greater Hollywood, the Harbor Area, the Westside, Crescenta Valley, and Downtown L.A., for example. There are also over eighty smaller districts and neighborhoods in Los Angeles, like Westwood, the Hollywood Hills, Bel-Air, Beverly Hills Post Office, Century City, and Brentwood. The family-friendly community of Brentwood is conveniently situated in L.A.’s Westside and is an affluent neighborhood with two public schools and seven private schools.

This well-established neighborhood has a history that stretches back many decades and includes having hosted the pentathlon of the 1932 Summer Olympics. It was also the site of a tragic fire in 1961, and where the murders for which O.J. Simpson was tried took place. The area was originally part of a Mexican land grant, and its modern development began in the 1880s. Today, to the south of Brentwood is Wilshire Boulevard, to the north is Mulholland Drive and the ridgeline of the Santa Monica Mountains, to the west is Topanga State Park, to the southwest is Santa Monica, and to the east is the San Diego Freeway.

Along with Beverly Hills and Bel-Air, Brentwood is part of the highly esteemed region known as the Three B’s. Additionally, the community encompasses multiple smaller neighborhoods such as Brentwood Glen, Kenter Canyon, Crestwood Hills, Mandeville, Bundy Canyon, and the gated community of Brentwood Circle. Brentwood Circle is located north of Sunset and east of Barrington, while Mandeville is at the westernmost edge of Brentwood. Bundy Canyon is home to Getty Center and Mount Saint Mary’s College, while Kenton Canyon sits between Mandeville and Bundy. At the northern edge of Brentwood is Crestwood Hills, a great place to find Brentwood real estate with Mid-Century Modern design features. Brentwood Glen is located between the Veterans Administration, Sunset, and the 405 Freeway.
